what's this strange round thing i found in my aquarium?
it almost looks like a gooseberry, but it's brownish, and it has a tiny hole, and it appears to be something white and slimey inside. it has some kinda pattern on it.. what could it be? not a fish egg? i have no idea...
it's not poop. no way.. i have very tiny snails and fishes.
I can't remember precisely what it is called,but it is a "colonial organism" made up of different single-celled creatures combining to form a colony.
Where we need some of the "biology students" bouncing around on here.
Something like a Volvox,except bigger....
I've seen them several times in streams (once in a filter),and best I can remember they are totally harmless to fish.
