How to clear green pool using bioguard chemcials?
I just opened my pool, and realized that my winter cover leaked. I have had the pool for about 7 years now, and have always had clear water when I open it. This year however, I have greenish water. If I fill up a water bottle, the bottle looks very clear. I have added chlorine tablet, some 8lbs of optimizer, and 4 pts of muratic acid. I vaccumed with the aquabug vaccuum, but i couldn't even see the bug on the bottom. Not sure how to get rid of this, but I am getting worried. Once again, I use bioguard products, and would like to stick with the same brand of chemicals.
If you prefer BioGaurd products, you will need to use something different than the tabs. Tabs will dissolve too slow to get you where you want to be.
You need to kill the algae and filter it out. Optimizer is fine, but better as a preventative. If it is currently green use Smart Shock - but follow the instructions correctly as it pertains to gallons in your pool. Too much will kill the aglae but then make your pool too cloudy - but it doesn't need to be exact.
Once applied run you filter as much as you can - 24/7 until clear if possible. Brush the pool daily if not more. Algae forms a protective filmy layer to protect itself. Brushing will remove that film and let the chlorine to its work.
Finally, clean your filter before and after. Algae can be introduced in the filtering elements and will continue to give you problems.
