harley 4 speed kicker.?
So My '78 Shovel has a kicker and it went south, making weird noises and engaging the kicker while it's running causing an interesting ride, my guess is the spring that holds the ratchet gear off the main trans drive gear has failed,
I have a complete kicker conversion kit in hand,, was wondering if anyone has any insight as to installation.. not an idiot,, but it never hurts to ask someone who has been there before.
thanks for any input as I have never opened up the trans before, what to watch out for, tips tricks etc, would be help-full
To clear up any missunderstandings. the bike has a kickstarter now ,
it's just engaging while the engine is running,causing the kick arm to flail wildly. I purchased a complete conversion kit because it was cheaper to buy the whole kit than the individual parts. so I have everything I should need for the repair. I will update when I get the trans opened up. thanks for the input.

Yea, to me it sounds like your spring took a dump on you. but I'm not sure what conversion kit you have either so I don't know what to tell you to watch out for taking it apart, but nothing going to come flying out at you if that's what your thinking.
